John Smoltz, Marquis Grissom and MGBA, Inc have teamed up with Fulton County Parks & Recreation, Turner Field, and the Villages at Carver Family YMCA (The Braves Academy) to present the 10th Annual Smoltz-Grissom Wood Bat Classic.

The Smoltz Grissom Wood Bat Classic is played in the pride of the South, exciting Atlanta, Georgia! Come out and be a part of this year's event which promises to be a classic.

Get ready for the ultimate show of Wood Bat Classic competition “Battle of the Bats” with two days of championship game play. On Monday, May 26, 8u through 12u open teams will play for championship titles at the Braves Baseball Academy fields.  And at  Turner Field, “Home of the Braves,” on Tuesday, the 16u and 18u teams will compete in their championship games.

Founded in 1999, the Smoltz-Grissom Wood Bat Classic is a tournament that gives amateur youth teams the opportunity to play baseball and softball like they do in the big leagues, by playing with wood bats.

From its humble beginnings as a local tournament in the Metro Atlanta area to its constant growing success as a national stage for youth from all over the country to play and showcase their talent, the Smoltz-Grissom Wood Bat Classic is the environment every child and parent wants to be in. Marquis Grissom will oversee and place his personal touch on the tournament through the Marquis Grissom Baseball Association, Inc.

The Smoltz-Grissom Wood Bat Classic is a CABA, Fletcher Baseball and ISA Fast-Pitch Softball tournament. The SGWBC will be comprised of teams ranking from “Open” which is teams that play recreation baseball and some travel and “Competitive” with teams that play strictly travel ball.  The tournament will offer 4 berths per age division to the CABA or the Fletcher Baseball World Series.
