The Smoltz-Grissom Wood Bat Classic was created by Atlanta Braves pitcher John Smoltz and former Brave Marquis Grissom. Founded in 1999 and operated by the Fulton County Parks & Recreations, the Smoltz-Grissom Wood Bat Classic is a tournament that gives amateur youth teams the opportunity to play baseball and softball like they do in the big leagues, by playing with wood bats.

From its humble beginnings as a local tournament held at Fulton County Parks in the Metro Atlanta area to its constant growing success as a national stage for youth from all over the country to play and showcase their talent, the Smoltz-Grissom Wood Bat Classic is the environment every child and parent wants to be in. This year, Marquis Grissom in conjunction with Fulton County Parks & Recreations will oversee and place his personal touch on the tournament through the Marquis Grissom Baseball Association, Inc.

The tournament is held in Atlanta, GA, will feature almost 200 teams, ranging in ages from 8 to 18! Tournament proceeds will fund scholarships and baseball programs for economically disadvantaged young people.
